The visual effects guru, and all around great man, Robert Habros sent us a link today that stands as our first review for the upcoming Dead Like Me movie. It was nice to read a review that was favourable with regards to the visual effects. We really did work hard on them and we stand proud of our efforts to say the least. Thanks Bob!

Well, you knew they were bound to come at some point. The new iPhone/iPod Touch has it’s first comic book, or motion comic, that is now available on the apple application store. I would love to hear what people think and if you miss the smell that the papered version would give off.

There is a new animatic out for the new Indiana Jones game coming soon and it looks fun.

I have never really been an A-Team fan but with the folks involved in this one, it has the potential to be amazing.

I don’t know what to say about this, I think this trailer looks really cool except for the “Halo look” and “been-done-100-times-already”
Visit the link for HD version.

P.S. What is USIS Texas anyway? I only know USS Texas :)

For the last twenty fine years, surveys of reading habits by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) – a federally funded body in the USA – have been favorite material for anyone who thinks that the United States is dumbing down.

So it is with surprise (and some delight on my part) that the evidence to support this belief is reversing.  This week the NEA reported that – for the first time since 1982 when its survey began, the number of adults who said they had read a novel, short story, poem or play in the past 12 months had gone up, rising from 47% of the population in 2002 to over 50% in 2008.

Amazing that this number actually rose under George W.

Not.

For all of you diehard VHS fans out there the format is finally dead.

“didn’t this happen a long time ago?” You might ask.

No.  It did not, unless you think a long time ago is 2008.  I get a bit of schadenfreude at this occurrence as I reminisce at how we were punished in the eighties for having a superior format (i.e. Beta) -  when every trip to the movie store meant smaller and smaller rooms for the Beta, and looks of pity from the clerks as we emerged with the as-yet-unseen-by-us cassetes of old movies.    Well, there you have it.

Check it Out!

Apparently the titles will be updated daily/weekly/monthly. However, the most remarkable thing is that the films are all there to enjoy for free so please go enjoy the archives.

Well, the Oscar Nominations are out and, from first glance, there are not too many surprises. Heath Ledger and WALL-E are my personal favourites. As for the VFX nominations, I think the list is a little thin. I think The Dark Knight should get the nod due to the subtle brilliance that Double Negative achieved. However, there is a great “closer-look” at Benjamin Button here and Iron Man involved talent from Vancouver… so, you be the judge.

Speaking of subtle sweetness, I could not help but include this shot of a down-and-out man’s wit. In fact, there were a couple of humorous things on found today.

If you are having thoughts of stalking or attempting to disrupt any of President Obama’s conclaves, this video might dissuade you. This has to be one of the most powerful guns I have ever seen and, frankly, it would freak the heck out of me.
